Hundreds of acres of forestry has been destroyed in a major blaze in west Roscommon over the past two days.

It follows the outbreak of a major fire in Gorthaganny yesterday afternoon which then spread to a significant area.

Limerick has seen the largest increases, with rents up over a fifth year-on-year.

One mile of the N61 between Tulsk and Boyle will be shut from this morning until August 25th.

The blaze was still burning late last night, despite the best efforts of the fire service.

A number of fire crews are at the scene working to bring it under control.
