Summerhill too strong as Killoe bow out

Killoe Emmet Og bowed out of the Leinster championship after a nine point defeat to Summerhill in Navan.

However, it wasn’t the straight forward waltz to the quarter-finals which was predicted for the Meath champions.

Longford champions Killoe, led at half-time after a dramatic high scoring end-to-end first-half. Paddy Kiernan and Paddy Morgan helped Killoe to a six point to three lead.

Killoe moved four points in front ahead of Conor Frayne getting one back to stem the tide for Summerhill.

The Longford champions landed first goal of the day on the 26th minute. Larry Moran palming to their net to make it a six-point game. 1-10 to eight points.

Whereas, Summerhill skipper Eoghan Frayne responded with a point. 60 seconds later Frayne fired to the net to leave one between the sides, 1-9 to 1-10.

Jamie O’Shea and Moran exchanged points as Killoe led 1-11 to 1-10 at half-time.

Kevin Ryan squared the sides a minute into the second-half and Summerhill pulled clear from there.

An Eoghan Frayne two-pointer and a Sean Muddiman ‘45’ were followed-up by an Adam Flanagan goal on 46 minutes.

Klloe managed just five second-half scores. Whereas, the scores of Adam McDonnell, Conor Lyons, Eoghan Frayne (2) and Liam Shaw help secure a Leinster quarter-final berth for Summerhill.

The Meath champions winning out 2-22 to 1-16.
