Colmcille and Dromard are both safely through to the Longford quarter-finals after a high scoring draw.
The game ended 2-12 to 18-points in Newtonforbes, the first draw in this year’s championship writes Aaron Kelly.
Oisin O’Toole gave Dromard the lead after less than a minute. However, Colmcille responded with a sucker punch in the form of a goal by Cathal McCabe.
Indeed, the lead was short lived as Fionn Hourican and Ronan Corcoran had Dromard level after barely five minutes.
A Cathal McCabe two-pointer was responded to by a well taken free from Francis McGee from an incredibly acute angle.
Dromard had a huge chance for a goal 18 minutes into the game but somehow Colmcille scrambled the ball off the line.
Dromard’s Ronan Corcoran was shown a black card with 10 remaining in the first-half.
However, that did not stop Dromard from going into the break in front by two points, thanks to a McGee free to cancel out a Jack Macken two-pointer.
Colmcille came out swinging in the second-half. Another Jack Macken two-pointer adding to a well taken goal by Cathal McCabe.
Aaron Farrell’s two pointer restored Dromard’s lead but it was an incredibly tight end to the game. The lead changing hands on a couple of occasions.
Dyland McCabe got in on the act after some patient Colmcille build-up before Peter Reynolds and yet another McGee free has the side’s level going into added time.
Diarmuid Masterson thought he’d won it for Dromard. However, a late Jack Macken free sealed a point to keep Colmcille’s unbeaten run intact.
Colmcille 2-12 Dromard 0-18. Elsewhere, Killoe booked a place in the quarter-finals with a comfortable win over Mostrim.
