However, John McGuinness had the side’s level on 14 minutes with a goal. Gaels opening score coming from Peter Gillooly.

Gillooly’s second point moved Gaels ahead for the first time on 19 minutes. However, the game swung on a Mark Purcell Black card. Brigids added points through O’Carroll and Nugent (f) to lead six-points to 1-2 at half-time.

Anthony Cunningham’s side shot out of the blocks. O’Carroll (2), Shane Cunnane, Eoghan Derwin and Nugent all sent over points to move Brigid’s 12-points to 1-2 clear after seven second-half minutes.

It took 12 second-half minutes for Gaels to register their first score of the half through a Cian Connolly free.

Indeed, the scores didn’t unsettle Brigids. Three O’Carroll points (2f), two from Conor Hand and one from Nugent making it an 11-point game.

Rory Carthy sent over a 53rd minute free to make it 1-4 to 0-18 as Brigids led by 10-points. Two Richard Walsh free’s made it a nine point game as the clock hit 60 minutes.

The game was still set for one last piece of drama. Ben O’Carroll shot looked to have fallen in to James Fetherson hands, however the ball squired away for Brigids first goal, two minutes into injury time.

Michael Gillooly added a Gaels point with the clock four minutes into the red but the game was long over. Brigids winning out 1-18 to 1-10.
