Athlone Town fell to a 5-0 defeat to Shelbourne in Tolka Park as the reds produced their most emphatic performance of the season so far.
Noel King's team found their rhythm early on when a botched clearance landed at the feet of Jamie Finn and she lobbed the ball into an empty net.
However, the following goals were displays of Shelbourne's class with Noelle Murray sliding perfect passes through for Ciara Grant and Saoirse Noonan to both score, celebrating call-ups to the Republic of Ireland WNT squad.
Rebecca Cooke, who was returning from a stint in the United States, added a fourth before debutant Abbie Larkin finished it all off when reacting quickest to a second ball inside the penalty area.
Meanwhile it didn't take long for new Galway boss Stephen Lally to taste victory as his side saw off Cork City 2-0 in Bishopsgate.
Defender Chloe Moloney got their opening goal when meeting a corner kick before striker Aoife Thompson got her first of the season with a bullet header just a few minutes later.
This wasn't all smooth sailing for Galway as Cork, who are still without a permanent manager after Ronan Collins stepped away, showed a fighting spirit that turned this into a stop-start encounter.
However Galway did enough to claim their first set of three points since April 24th and will look to use this to get their season back on track again.
Elsewhere Peamount United and Wexford Youths produced a fantastic advertisement for the Women's National League with Wexford ending the champions' winning run with a 2-2 draw in Greenogue.
First up was the goal of the season contender from Megan Smyth-Lynch before captain Áine O'Gorman doubled the hosts' lead before the break.
Wexford responded by producing some swift passing combinations with Kylie Murphy, Ellen Molloy and Aoibheann Clancy at the heart of it all. That was before substitute Blessing Kingsley added some extra speed to their game.
The visitors started to pile the pressure on and forced Peamount goalkeeper Naoisha McAloon into a couple of fine saves. But she could not stop Nicola Sinnott from pulling one back or prevent Murphy from securing a draw late on.
Meanwhile Treaty United tasted a sweat 2-1 victory over Bohemians.
Fortune certainly fell the host’s way at Jackman Park as Anna Shanagher scored in the 90th minute to secure just their second win of the season.
Jenna Slattery converted a first-half penalty to get Treaty moving but they found little space to move in as Bohemians made it difficult for them to gain any sort of momentum.
Then Abbie Brophy fired in a superb long-range strike to give the away team hope of upsetting things, but a breakaway in the final minute of normal time led to a parried cross falling perfectly for Shanagher to slot in.
