A goal and ten points from Diarmuid Murtagh helped the Rossies secure a third successive championship win away in Castlebar.
A Diarmuid Murtagh goal was Roscommon’s opening score of the game after 10 minutes. The visitors had fell four behind to Mayo who were backed by the breeze in the first-half.
Points from Kobe McDonald and Ryan O’Donoghue gave Mayo the lead again. However, Diarmuid Murtagh was single handily keeping Roscommon in the game in the first-half with his scoring exploits.
Mayo struck for a goal of the own after 28 minutes. Ryan O’Donoghue sent Conor Carroll the wrong way in the Roscommon net, opening up a five point lead.
However, points late in the half from Murtagh, Enda Smith and Robert Heneghan left Roscommon trailing by three at half-time.

Roscommon came racing out of the traps in the second-half as they hit six unanswered points from Colm Neary, Enda Smith and Diarmuid Murtagh.
Kobe McDonald and Matthew Ruane replied for Mayo but it was Diarmuid Murtagh who was again terrorising the Mayo defence from both play and dead balls.
Further points from Darragh Heneghan, Dylan Ruane and the newly introduced Conor Hand had Roscommon in full control approaching the final 12 minutes. Indeed, Darragh Heneghan stuck for Roscommon’s second goal.
