It was a very even start to the game, Ruaidhri Fallon and Diarmuid Murtagh brought Roscommon level after the falling behind in the early stages.
However, it was an 18th minute goal from Matthew Tierney that turned the tide of proceedings. A wild scramble in the box; saw the ball come off the crossbar before Tierney reacted to bury the ball past Conor Carroll.
A pair of two-pointers from Paul Conroy left Roscommon up against it, with an eight point gap to try and claw back in the second period of the game. Galway leading 1-12 to seven points.
Rob Finnerty grabbed a pair of points at the beginning of the second-half; before Ciarain Murtagh converted a well needed point to break the Galway scoring streak.
It didn’t knock Galway however, with Cillian McDaid and Dylan McHugh opening up a nine point advantage.
Donie Smith produced a beautiful two-pointer with the outside of his left foot, before Ben O’Carroll followed up with a fine score of his own.
Roscommon produced sporadic responses, with Senan Lambe grabbing the final score of the game.
However it was too little too late, as Galway progress to face Mayo in the Connacht football final next week.
Padraig Joyce’s side scoring a 1-24 to 18-point victory.
