Roscommon hurling manager Johnny Keane steps down

He resigns following a difficult year which saw relegation from both league and championship.

Johnny Keane has confirmed his decision to step down from his position as Roscommon senior hurling manager.

Keane first got involved as a coach under Ciaran Comerford four-years ago, before taking over as manager last year.

The news emerges following a somewhat difficult year for the Rossies. Keane's side saw relegation from both the Christy Ring cup as well as division 2B of the national hurling league.

Roscommon GAA the hurling committe thanked Johnny, his backroom team and his players for their time and effort during the past few seasons.

Both organisations also said acknowledged his family for being so understanding of his commitment to Roscommon hurling.
