Roscommon hurlers suffer heavy defeat to Wicklow

Roscommon hurlers had a day to forget after losing 5-23 to 2-12 to Wicklow in their Nickey Rackard Cup clash at Aughrim.

Wicklow led 2-12 to 1-7 at the break but the hosts found another gear after the break. Andy O’Brien’s third goal saw them move 17 points clear early in the second half.

Joe Brennan replied with a goal for Roscommon 60 seconds later the visitors failed to reduce the margin any further and suffered a 20-point defeat in the end.

Roscommon can not progress and face a relegation game against Fermanagh on Saturday May 20th.
