Roscommon need victory against Derry next week

Donegal scored victory over Roscommon in Dr Hyde Park, having caught Roscommon cold early on.

The Rossies found themselves seven points to no score down after 10 minutes.

A Rory Lyons free saw Roscommon register their first score of the day. Benny Mulry (0-2), Brian Lawlor, Conor Mulry, Coin Murray (0-2).

Paddy Fallon, Brendan Mulry, Brian Lawlor as Donegal led 12 points to 10 at half-time.

Roscommon’s comeback continued after the restart, James Hardiman with an opening point and a Ben Mulry goal putting Roscommon 1-11 to 12 points ahead. Toast added a point from play.

However, Donegal came back at it from there. Oisin Grant and Paddy Fallon exchanged scores before Donegal roared back. Eight points in a row put Donegal back in front.

Paddy Fallon converted a free a minute before the end of normal but it wasn’t enough as Donegal won out 0-24 to 1-14.

Roscommon go into their final game with Derry on St Patrick’s Day, needing victory to have any chance of staying in the same grade for 2025. Indeed, the Rossies are fifth in division 2B with the leagues to be regraded next season.
