New York beat Leitrim in Connacht hurling league

Leitrim fall to New York in opening game of 2024

Leitrim opened 2023 with a big defeat to New York in the Connacht hurling league.

New York ran out 4-26 to 1-14 winners, having led 3-17 to five points at half-time in the Connacht air dome.

Leitrim’s scores came from Joe Murray 1f, Michael O’Brien, Gavin O’Hagan, Clement Cunniffe 1f and Martin Feeney 0-1 each.

Oisin Gurn found the New York net on 51 minutes, but Leitrim were never in the game. Whereas, Joe Murray 0-5, Conor McLaughlin, Paul Lenehan all added scores, New York won out by 21 points.

New York will now meet the Galway development panel on Thursday January 4th at 7pm.

Meanwhile, Roscommon will face Mayo in the first Connacht hurling league semi-final on Wednesday January third at 7pm. All games take place in the Connacht air dome.

Roscommon progressed to the semi-final having beaten Sligo 3-23 to 2-23 on New Year’s day.
