McGoldrick fisted the winning point

Daniel Minmnagh collected the man-of-the-match award as he helped Killoe to the Longford senior title.

Minmnagh scored three points as Killoe scored a one-point win over Colmcille in yesterday’s final. 2-9 to 1-11.

Indeed, Killoe missed Mimnagh earlier in the season, who played with Longford New York in the New York championship during the summer.

“No, it certainly wasn't on my mind at all” explained Minmnagh who missed Killoe’s opening four games having being stateside.

“I just, take each game at a time. I had a great summer over in the States playing with Longford”. Mimnagh added; “Thankfully, we got over the line there, junior champions, and then move on to intermediate”.

“There's a great group of lads there” added Minmnagh. “We'll hopefully see them for celebrations sometime soon, but look, it's just brilliant to be here”.

It was a see-saw battle throughout before Ronan McGoldrick fisted a 57th minute point to give Killoe the title.

“That's that man, you know, he's just been around the block” explained Minmnagh of McGoldrick.

Indeed, It’s the “same with his brother (Denis), his whole family, they're just a credit to the parish. He's bowing out now with seven” titles.

“His brother really should have seven. I don't know if we can even give him one" joked Minmnagh. But, yeah, they're an incredible family.”

Ronan “makes the smart decision. We had a couple of goals chances. We were very scrappy, we didn't take them and that kept them in the game a little bit”.

“He has been the man in a lot of finals in 2019, he did the exact same” added Minmnagh. “He's done it again today, he's done it in a few other finals.

However, “He's just a man who knows how to get it done and I'm delighted for him and his family”.

Whereas, Killoe begin the journey into the Leinster championships as the next venture. Killoe will travel to face Meath champions Summerhill on November second.

“We need to really set down a mark now and put Longford football back on the map with a win” Minmnagh explained. “The last few years we haven't really done ourselves justice£.

“It's not that we're set out winning Leinster, it's really about going and putting a marker down against the mid-champions".

“We didn't play great football there today, we need to go and really show up to that game”.
