Longford under-20's suffer last-gasp defeat to Meath

Daragh O'Reilly landed the winner deep into injury time.

Daragh O’Reilly’s last-gasp point saw Longford 1-11 to 0-13 to Meath in the Leinster under-20 football championship quarter-final at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park.

Longford missed a late penalty making it a level game heading into injury time before the visitors claimed the victory after landing two of the last three scores.

Longford started impressively and two points from Jack Duggan and one from Jack Macken saw the hosts lead 0-3 to no score on 13 minutes.

Meath restored parity eight minutes later when Ruairi Kinsella found the net before the visitors moved two points clear on 26 minutes.

Another Meath score was sandwiched by two points from Duggan as Longford trailed 1-4 to 0-6 at the half-time break.

Duggan was Longford’s main scoring threat and he levelled the game with three minutes remaining after slotting over a hat-trick of points.

Longford were awarded a penalty two minutes later only for Duggan’s effort to hit the upright. Meath were reduced to 14 players after Adam McDonnell received a black card for the penalty foul.

Three minutes into injury time Keelin McGann appeared to win the game for Longford only for Meath to snatch victory with two late points including O’Reilly’s winner.
