The midlanders exited the Tailteann cup with a loss to Down

Cavan will face Down at 5:15 this Saturday in the wuarter-final of the Tailteann cup in Kingspan Breffni.

The GAA confirmed the throw in times for the last eight encounters on Monday evening. Limerick and Laois will be out first at 3pm in the Gaelic Grounds with Meath and Wexford at 4pm in Navan. The remaining quarter-final throws in on Sunday in Belfast with Antrim welcoming Carlow to Corrigan park at 1pm.

Longford's interest in the competition came to an end with a defeat to the Mourne men. The result means Longford finished 20-23 with just two wins including relegation to Allianz league division four. Former manager Declan Rowley believes Paddy Christie needs more time to build the team
