Monaghan scored a one point win over Longford in the All-Ireland C U20 semi-final played at Entekra COE, Cloghan.
The result sees Monaghan through to the Andrew O’Neill Cup final for the second year in a row. It was a tight and tense affair throughout and the Northern based outfit were made work for their victory.
Monaghan lead by a point after 15 minutes; 1-02 to 0-4. A goal each for Monaghan and Longford left two points between the sides at half-time, Monaghan leading 2-6 to 1-7.
It remained a tight affair in the second-half with an early goal surge in the second-half. With 45 minutes on the clock played it was all square at 3-9 apiece.
Monaghan got the all-important fourth goal helping them to a one point victory. Monaghan winning out 4-10 to 3-12.
