Longford overcome Carlow with five points to spare in final group game.
Oran Kenny opened the scoring with a two pointer for Longford. Carlow did reply, before Matthew Carey got the first of his five two pointers of the afternoon.
Oran Kenny who was influential all afternoon and landed the only goal of the game. Mike Solan's side built up a 14 point lead heading into the break.
Carlow again started the second-half brightly though a two pointer from Kyle Nolan, but as the half progressed Longford’s defence remained resilient in the face of a strong wind.
Longford held out for the win on a score line of 1-20 to 1-15, with Matthew Carey scoring 15 points to cap of what has been a difficult year with a much needed win.
