London recorded a historic first-ever victory over Longford in Pearse Park.
The visitors set the tone early, opening the scoring through Liam Gallagher inside the first two minutes.
London edged ahead throughout a competitive opening quarter. Longford stayed in touch thanks to points from Matthew Carey and Paddy Moran. However, London consistently kept their noses in front, with scores from James Davis, Matt Monthan and Daniel Clarke.
By half-time, London held a narrow 0-8 to 0-7 lead after Moran landed a late point to keep Longford within striking distance.
However, any hopes of a second-half turnaround quickly faded as London took firm control after the restart.
Kristian Healy and Michael O’Reilly were influential as London stretched their lead. Whereas, Longford endured a disastrous spell of over 20 minutes without a score.
Ciaran Diver and Ciaran McKeon punished every mistake, driving London into a commanding seven-point advantage midway through the second-half.
Although Dessie Reynolds briefly reignited home hopes with a goal on the hour mark, London responded emphatically.
Healy and Diver continued to rack up points, before Paddy Moran struck a late goal to put the result beyond doubt and cap a remarkable afternoon for the visitors.
The final whistle confirmed a famous result for London and a sobering defeat for Longford, as the visitors celebrated a landmark win that will be remembered for years to come.
