Leitrim Gaels secured what may be a maiden Senior Championship win over the reigning champions Mohill.
That was despite Keith Beirne's best efforts writes Darren Mulvey. The Mohill sharpshooter, landing 1-8 off the bench to bring the game right down to the wire.
Mohill started the game the brighter and were two up inside two minutes through a brace from Evan Harkin.
However, Leitrim Gaels weren't long about waking up. Kicking over four points on the spin, with the Jones brothers Ryan and Connall alongside Leitrim star Donal Casey and team captain Aidan Flynn all raising white flags.
Mohill's Matty Murphy responded with a fisted effort in the 10th minute. Keith Keegan's barrelling 11th minute run led to a 1v1 with Gaels keeper Brian Cull. However, he blazed over to tie the game up.
That would be Mohill's last score until almost half-time as the hosts took control of the middle of the park and the scoreboard.
Jack Flynn and Domhnaill Flynn traded wides before Garvan Jones raised the first orange flag from a free. That followed a score from his brother Connall.
Mohill could have been further behind on 21 minutes as an Alan Armstrong challenge was deemed worthy of a penalty. However, Mohill keeper Peter O'Neill got a strong left hand to Stephen Goldrick's effort.
Mohill's clean sheet didn't last much longer. Following a good score whipped over by Gaels wingback Jamie Rynn; a hard running Gaels attack ended with Shaun Chandler palming to the net.
Aidan Flynn added his second and third points from play before Mohill's Ronan Gordon, on as an early sub for Ronan Kennedy, stopped the rot with a 45 that sent the champions in trailing 1-10 to 0-05 at half-time.
Leitrim Gaels hit the first two points of the second-half through Ryan Jones and Liam Chandler.

Indeed, Mohill sent for the cavalry at the break and it came in the form of Keith Beirne, who responded instantly with a brace of frees to cancel out the Gaels fast start.
The midfield battle was now 50/50 as Mohill grew into the game. Keith Beirne hit the first of three two-point frees in the 39th minute.
Another one, four minutes later was sandwiched between two Leitrim Gaels wides.
Mohill continued to apply pressure and Garvan Jones ended a 14 minute dry spell on the scoreboard with a free with ten minutes remaining. Cutting the deficit to five points.
Mohill's response was to punish more Gaels indiscipline with another two pointer from Beirne who couldn't miss from distance.
Gaels goal scorer Shaun Chandler pointed with five minutes remaining, leaving four between them but then came the drama.
Mohill broke through the Gaels defence through Keith Keegan, who laid the ball on for Matty Murphy who was fouled in the square in the act of getting his shot away and firing wide.
However, the play was brought back and a penalty awarded. Up stepped Beirne, beating Cull low to the left to leave the minimum between the teams as the game moved into injury time.
Leitrim Gaels secured possession as Mohill frantically tried to force a turnover. Indeed, almost three minutes of Gaels possession quarter-backed mainly by Garvan and Ryan Jones led to captain Aidan Flynn landing the insurance point.
Leitrim Gaels winning out 1-15 to 1-13.
