Leitrim claimed their first win of their 2025 Lory Meagher Cup campaign with a one point win over Lancashire.
Leitrim had to bounce back from three points down inside the opening ten minutes at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park. Peter Boylan and Conor Levingstone had Lancashire flying from the get-go.
Michael O’Brien and Joe Murray had the Leitrim men back within one. Before, Murray confidently dispatched a penalty to give Leitrim the lead for the first time in the game.
Martin Feeney and James McNabola gave Leitrim some daylight, before Boylan and Levingstone proved to be a problem once again to get Lancashire back within two going into the half-time interval.
The two-point gap remained until the 16th minute of the second-half, when Lancashire broke through to find the back of the Leitrim net. Shane O’Boyle put Lancashire back in front for the first time since the 26th minute of the first period.
However, Leitrim were far from done, Joe Murray was the star of the show, and he helped himself to another brace of scores along with a Stephen Goldrick point to give them their two-point advantage back once again.
Peter Boylan’s final score proved to be too little too late as Leitrim claimed a slim victory. The first of their Lory Meagher Cup campaign. Leitrim winning out 1-13 to 1-12.
Elsewhere, a well taken goal from Martin Farrell in the 65th minute was the decisive score in Longford's one point win over Warwickshire. Longford winning out 1-14 to 0-16.
