Kildare raced into a three point lead in the opening six minutes as Alex Beirne converted two early free-kicks.
Two Tom Prior scores were sandwiched in between three Kildare scores. Kevin Feeley, Darragh Swords and Jimmy Hyland amongst the scores.
A Barry McNulty two-pointer got Leitrim within two, but Kildare took the initiative and got the next nine points without response. This, included a two-pointer from Alex Beirne.

However, things didn’t improve for Stephen Poacher’s side in the second-half; Kildare landing the first six scores of the second-half, including a pair of two-pointers.
Riordan O’Rourke got himself on the scoresheet while McNulty helped himself to another two-pointer.
However, Kildare stayed strong with Ryan Sinkey getting his sixth of the day, before the 45 in the closing moments from Cian Burke sealed as comprehensive Kildare victory.
Kildare winning out 36 points to 11 points.
