Matthew Thompson found the net twice as Galway scored a big win over Leitirm in the FBD league.
Galway came from behind to beat Leitrim, 2-19 to 0-14 at Tuam Stadium and advance to the FBD League final.
Thompson’s opening minute goal gave the Connacht champions the perfect start ahead.
However, Leitrim responded well and led at half-time 10-points to 1-4. Killian Gaffney (3 2ptf) and Riordan O’Rourke, Eanna McNamara (2pf), and singles from Ryan O’Rourke and Jack Kelly helped Poachers men to the lead.
The hosts got motoring early in the second-half. A Thompson two-pointer helped to galvanise Galway.
Thompson’s 45th minute penalty it 2-9 to 0-13. Scores from skipper Kieran Molloy (2pt), Brian Cogger, Shane McGrath and Oisin McDonagh had the Tribesmen on their way to an 11-point victory.
