Aoife and Lisa O’Rourke will have to settle for Women’s World Boxing championship silver after final defeat.
Aoife O'Rourke was beaten by Russia’s Anastasia Shamonova in the middleweight category. While, Russian Elena Gapeshina got the better of Lisa O'Rourke in the light middleweight category.
Aoife was down on three cards after two rounds. The remaining two judges scored the bout level. Need a big last round it wasn’t to be as the final round was given to the Russian fighter.
Meanwhile, Elena Gapeshina dominated her bout against Lisa O’Rourke scoring a unanimous decision. As all five judges in her bout with Lisa O’Rourke.
However, the O’Rourkes return home having made history as the first sisters to contest a World Championship final in the same tournament.
