Clann book quarter-final place

Clann na Gael booked a place in the Roscommon quarter-finals with a seven-point win over St. Faithleachs.

However, Diarmuid Murtagh did end-up with three points in the first-half. Ciaran Murtagh, Cian Glennon, David Rooney and Jack Murray all with one point each.

Indeed, Clann led 2-16, to seven-points at half-time.

Faithleachs did come out fighting in the second-half. David Rooney with a two-point free. Diarmuid Murtagh with a two-pointer and Brian Murtagh with a goal from close range cutting the deficit.

With about five minutes to go, Ciarán Murtagh went through on goal, his shot was deemed to be blocked with the foot by a Clann defender.

Referee Shane Curley had no hesitation in awarding Faithleachs a penalty. Diarmuid Murtagh converting the spot-kick.

However, Clann did show some character and went-up the other end and got a goal of their own.

Dylan Sommer, who had an excellent game, got a point earlier in the game as well with a solo goal and he put it past Martin Reynolds.

Clann na Gael winning out 3-22, St. Faithleachs 2-18.

Elsewhere, Elphin edged out Western Gaels too send Gaels into the relegation play-off. Whereas, Padriag Pearses scored a 4-14 to 1-12 win over St. Dominic's and Michael Glavey's shocked St. Brigids.
