Aughawillan produced a second-half surge to see-off Melvin Gaels in a real game of two-halves.
Melvin Gaels looked odds on to claim both points as they led by five-points at half-time. However, Aughawillan fought back scoring 1-16 in the second-half.
The game itself was delayed by some five minutes as the willies were made change into white jerseys due to a colour clash.
Killian McGloin opened the scoring after two minutes to give Melvin Gales the lead. Jamie Plunkett responded with the willies opening score four minutes later.
Stephen Gilheany sent over the host’s second point a minute later, their last of the half!
A 10th minute Michael Ferguson free levelled the contest with a Killian McGloin two pointer restoring Gaels lead four minutes later.
Gaels moved further ahead on 19 minutes when Ferguson added his second-free of the day. Gaels were punished for a breach only for Aughawillan to make a total mess of the advanced free and end with no score!

Seven days earlier Aughawillan arrived for the second-half, while tiring in the fourth quarter. A repeat performance looked on when Fergal McTague opened the scoring with a two-pointer.
Jamie Plunkett made it a two point game on 33 minutes. However, Jack Rogan responded with Gaels first score of the second-half. It would take 15 minutes for a second gaels score and the game would certainly change!
Points from McTague and Stephen Gilheany made it a one point game, while Jamie Plunkett’s 39th minute two-poin free put the Willies nine points to eight ahead.
The hosts looked to banish the second-half Fenagh performance in style. A bad restart was seized by Tom Plunkett who quickly fed the on rushing Stephen Gilheany who hand-passed for Ciaran Gilheany to fist a goal.
The Willies were flying and Melvin Gaels restarts were failing. The Plunkett’s took over with a Jamie free followed by a Tom 2-point free and another Jamie free had the Willies 1-13 to 0-8 ahead on 47 minutes.
The tables had certainly turned as Gaels seven point half-time advantage was now an eight-point disadvantage. However, the door reopened for Gaels when Joe McGloin’s weak shot took a deflection into the net.
Tom Plunkett tried to cool the Gaels jets converting a 52nd minutes advanced free. However, Gaels tails were still up.
Killian McGloin punished a horrendous Noel Plunkett error with a goal making it 2-8 to 1-14 with seven minutes remaining.
Sean McStag made it a two-point game with five minutes left on the clock. However, Gaels couldn’t bridge the gap, kicking two wides.
Rory McTague restored the host’s there-point lead on 56 minutes and Morgan Quinn’s point insured the win, three minutes into injury time.
Aughawillian winning out 1-16 to 2-9. Elsewhere, Ballinamore Sean O’Heslin’s snuck past Glencar-Manorhamilton and Leitirm Gaels shocked Mohill.
