Aoife O'Rourke wins gold at European Championships in Belgrade

O'Rourke defeated her Russian opponent on a split decision.

Aoife O’Rourke has won a gold medal at the European Boxing Championships in Belgrade after beating Anastasiia Shamonova in the 75kg final.

The Castlerea native has successfully defended her crown by defeating her Russian opponent via a split decision in Belgrade.

O’Rourke is now a four-time continental champion. She’s completed a three-in-a-row at these championships having previously triumphed in 2019 and 2022.

O’Rourke also won gold at the European Games in Poland last year. The Castelrea boxer has already secured qualification for this summer’s Olympics.
