Aoife O’Rourke is just one bout away from a place at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
The 25-year-old steps into the ring against Poland’s Elzbieta Wojcik at 6:15 tonight at the European Games in Krakow.
Whereas, O’Rourke scored victory in her super-middleweight quarter-final on Tuesday against EOC Refugee Team’s Cindy Winner Djankeu Ngamba. Moreover, It was a close contest with a split decision win.
When, O'Rourke and Wojcik fight for a place at Paris 2024, a European Games silver medal will also be on the line.
It’s another big day as five Irish boxers will contest their semi-finals. However, for Jack Marley and O’Rourke they too will secure Olympic qualification should they win.
For Kellie Harrington, Dean Clancy, and Michaela Walsh, who have already booked their spots in Paris, it is all about whether than can change the colour of their medals from bronze to silver at these Games.
