The draws for next season's provincial football championships will take place tonight (Thursday) at Croke Park. All four provincial councils have come together to hold the draws, which will be broadcast live on the GAA's official channels from 7pm. The 2026 campaign is due to begin with the return of pre-season competitions in early January.
The schedule for the O'Byrne cup has been confirmed. Round 1 will see Longford taking on Westmeath with Louth awaiting the winners in the Quarter final , Laois will face Dublin, Wexford take on Kildare, Carlow go up against Offaly and Wicklow take on Meath.
In the FBD league, the opening round of fixtures on the weekend of 3rd/4th of January will see Leitrim taking on Roscommon, Galway facing London and Sligo up against Mayo. Round 2 fixtures will take place a week later with the teams then going to a cup, Shield and plate finals depending on positions after the 2 games.
