The Platanus Orientalis trees require tree care approximately every 10yrs depending on growth rate.

In a statement it says that parts or limbs of some trees within the roundabout had broken off and were leaning on other trees causing a risk of damage to the trees themselves and also a risk of injury to the general public/road users
.
An on-site visual tree assessment was carried out by a professional tree care and service company on the condition of all trees at the roundabout.

On foot of that, a recommendation was made to prune back all trees to their pollarding points, as these particular type of trees are prone to splitting at their union from the main trunk when they become heavy over time leading them to become structurally unsafe.

The tree care company says that while the trees visually look unattractive at this moment, they will recover over the next 9 months resulting in plenty of young foliage on the trees in July 2021.
