Tanaiste says schools not re-opening next month will reflect badly on Ireland

The Tánaiste has said it will reflect badly on the country if schools can't be re-opened next month.

The government has come under criticism for the lack of a clear plan on how they will do that.

There's been further calls for Education Minister Norma Foley to appear in the Dáil to explain how the schools will re-open.

Tánaiste Leo Varadkar says plans are not finalised but will be released soon - and that it's still the plan to open schools fully.

The Chief Clinical Officer of the HSE says it's up to schools to decide if students should wear uniforms whenever they return.

There are concerns that uniforms would have to be washed every day for hygiene reasons because of Covid-19.
