Three transition year students in Strokestown have raised close to 64 thousand euro for Childhood Cancer Foundation Ireland.
Andrew Jordan, Jack Beirne and Mark Rogers from Scoil Mhuire in the town began the fundraising as part of a student enterprise project.
The students bought a vintage tractor in Ballymahon and spent five weeks restoring it with the help of friends and local businesses.
The 1956 Ferguson 20 vintage tractor was then raffled off with the fundraiser receiving world wide attention.
The trio sold over 6 thousand tickets with the proceeds going towards Childhood Cancer Foundation Ireland, a national charity providing vital play services for children with cancer.
The tractor was won by local man Mike Snype who received his prize yesterday.
Team member Andrew Jordan says they never expected the project to go as far as it did.
He says they wanted to do something for children suffering through cancer, as teammate Jack Beirne is himself a survivor of childhood cancer:
