Social housing construction cost remains low for Shannonside region

Meanwhile, Dublin is paying almost twice the cost of local builds.

New Department of Housing figures reveal the construction costs for social housing in Longford and Roscommon are relatively lower than in other counties.

The Irish Times is reporting today that the average cost per unit of social housing is €194,389 in Roscommon and €236, 571 in Longford.

This compares with average costs of €320,747 in Wicklow and €304,398 in Meath.

Meanwhile Dublin councils are paying almost double than other counties at €386,391.

The figures also show how construction costs have increased considerably between 2021 and 2022.
