According to the Council, the figures for 2022 were impacted by the re-tenenting of three long term derelict homes during the year.

Some houses offered by Leitrim County Council were refused due to them being "too close to an ex-partner".

Local Councillors met the council executive last week to highlight concerns.

Meanwhile, Dublin is paying almost twice the cost of local builds.

The comments come following a report that showed Longford County Council not directly building any social housing last year.

The majority of the funding went to builders in Dublin, Louth, Kildare and Meath.

Applicants will be suspended from the housing lists if they decline two offers in the space of 12 months.
