Double murderer Yousef Palani was hospitalised following an assault in Mountjoy last week. Palani was sentenced to life in prison last year for the murders of Roscommon man Aidan Moffit and Michael Snee in Sligo in 2022. Sources have confirmed that Yousef Palani was attacked by a number of inmates on a landing in Mountjoy Prison. Palani is currently serving two life sentences for the murders of Aidan Moffit and Michael Snee in Sligo town over a four-day period in April 2022. It's believed he suffered injuries during the course of the assault and was briefly hospitalised.
Originally from Lisacul in Co Roscommon, Aidan Moffit was a well-known peace commissioner and auctioneer and was heavily involved in Fine Gael. He was murdered at home in Markievicz Heights in Sligo on 10th of April 2022 while Michael Snee was murdered two days later at his residence at City View on Connaughton Road. Palani, of Markievicz Heights in Sligo, tracked his victims down using an LGBT dating app before stabbing them to death and mutilating their bodies.
A Garda manhunt was launched in the wake of the attacks and with the help of witnesses, including Anthony Burke, a local man who had survived an earlier attack, Palani was traced to his home and arrested. He pleaded guilty to the murders as well as assault causing harm at the Central Criminal Court last year and sentenced to two concurrent life sentences and a further 20 years for the attack on Mr Burke
