Towns and villages across the Shannonside Northern Sound region say they will be able to improve community spirit and promote health and well being as a result of key initiatives which have received funding today.
Leitrim village, Newtowncashel, Ballaghaderreen, Elphin, Strokestown, Roscommon town and Kilteevan are all receiving allocations.
In Ballyforan in south Roscommon, a new outdoor cinema is one of the projects receiving grant aid as Chair of the Tidy Towns Aidan Thompson explains.
In Ballinalee in Longford, seating and lighting will be provided on a new walkway from the local forest close to the GAA pitch, which will provide direct access into the town.
Secretary of Ballinalee Tidy Towns Isla Duffy says the off road access to the local pitch will have many benefits.
