There's a renewed warning for dog owners in Roscommon to keep a closer eye on their pets this week.

An incident reported by a woman in the Curraghboy area on Tuesday morning is causing concern among pet owners.

The incident was posted on the Facebook page of Roscommon SPCA this week and reveals how a young passenger in a blue van had been calling dogs over to the vehicle when the owner spotted the incident and challenged them.

The van is reported to have sped off but the secretary of the Roscommon SPCA says it appears the owner is still lucky to have the pets.

Bridget Banham says they've been getting a lot of calls about dogs being stolen, and people who are worried about their animals.
