The wider Roscommon town Local Electoral Area recorded over three hundred cases of Covid in the last fortnight.

The County has recorded the highest number of Covid cases in the Shannonside region in the last fortnight.

According to new figures published for each LEA - 302 cases were recorded in the wider Roscommon town area - 241 in the Boyle LEA and 106 in the Athlone LEA between the 29th of December and 11th of January.

Roscommon town's Covid rate per 100,000 people is 1328, just under the national average of 1400.

In Longford, Ballymahon and Longford town are the areas which have recorded the highest number of Covid cases since the turn of the year.

143 cases were confirmed in Longford town's LEA between the 29th of December and 11th of January - the number in Ballymahon was 142 and Granard's LEA recorded 96 cases.

Ballymahon Covid rate is just over 1,000, with the other two MDs reporting rates below that.

In Leitrim, the north of the county recorded the highest number of cases in the last fortnight - with 83 in the Manorhamilton LEA , and 79 in the Ballinamore LEA and 68 in the Carrick-on-Shannon electoral area.
