A Roscommon MMA fighter says she is delighted to be the first Irish woman to win a world title in Mixed Martial Arts.

Danni McCormack won a world Strawweight title at the Invicta Fighting Championships in Denver Colorado last week.

The Castlecoote native defeated her Brazilian opponent Valesca Machado who was also the defending champion.

Speaking to the Joe Finnegan Show, she said adrenaline helped her win the fight despite having a broken nose and minor cuts.

'Its hard to understand if you don't actually do it but when you are in a fight you don't feel pain. You have got an instinct that kicks in an adrenaline instinct and you just fight back.

I didn't feel anything when I got hit in the nose because the only thing I could feel is that some blood was coming down the front of my mouth and the back of my throat because of it.

I usually don't know what part of me is injured until the next day because it takes that long for the adrenaline to wear off.'
