Refurbishment works at Strokestown House have been given the green light by Roscommon County Council

Refurbishment works at Strokestown Park House are set to proceed.

Roscommon County Council has given the Irish Heritage Trust the green light for an extension to visitors centre building,a larger visitor reception area, and for a larger cafe.

In October 2019, funding of €3.9m was announced by Failte Ireland for the house, which is the location of the national Famine Museum.

€1.2m is being invested by the Irish Heritage Trust for the upgrade.

The plans also include the refurbishment of the existing national famine museum and of existing stables buildings for an events facility.
