It comes as a high number of burglaries and thefts have been reported across the Shannonside region in recent weeks.

The Minister for Rural and Community Development is encouraging the public to mark their vehicles and machinery to avoid thefts. It comes as a high number of burglaries and thefts have been reported across the Shannonside region in recent weeks.

Figures released by the CSO show there were 263 burglaries in the Roscommon-Longford Garda Division in 2024 -- an increase of 20% on the previous year. Speaking in Longford, Minister Dara Calleary assured work is being done to boost Garda presence in rural towns and villages:
