Members of the public are being urged to attend and contribute to the future development of the resource.

A public consultation is being held in Roscommon today to gather opinion on developing a new greenway in the county.

Roscommon County Council are hosting an event at the Community centre in Strokestown to offer information on a Mid-Shannon Greenway which would connect areas such as Tarmonbarry, Ballyleague, Rooskey and Sliabh Bawn.

It's hoped that a new route could be developed to link several walking and cycling trails already in existence to form a major new tourist attraction.

The event takes place between 12 and 3pm as well as 7 and 9pm.
