The issue of the poor road markings had been highlighted as a difficulty for learner drivers who were taking their test in the town

Poor road markings in Carrick on Shannon have been causing learner drivers to fail their tests.

A motion presented at this months meeting of Carrick On Shannon Municipal District had urged the council to contact TII in order for them to re paint several sections of road in the town.

The call was made by Councillor Paddy Farrell who says that he has been contacted by a number of driving testers who are seeking that road markings are updated and corrected.

Speaking to Shannonside FM news, the Fianna Fail Councillor says the issue has now been resolved thanks to the TII and the council.

Councillor Farrell is urging any motorists with examples of poor or degraded road markings to contact the local authority:

We have a lot of driving instructors operating around Carrick on Shannon.

They all had more or less the same issue, that the markings were incorrect at one location and that they were very faded at other locations.

Young drivers were having difficulty when they were doing their driving tests so the issue was more or less resolved , the TII had realigned the markings and if there was any other issues with driving testers to make sure to bring it to the attention of the council.
