A Fianna Fáil councillor in Leitrim is defending her decision to nominate an Independent candidate for the presidential election.
Mary Bohan is one of three Leitrim councillors who have proposed conservative campaigner Maria Steen.
The 18 councillors on the local authority will decide on Monday whether to nominate Steen - or back no candidate.
