Roscommon-Galway TD Denis Naughten says he put forward the proposal because the current legislation doesn't go far enough to protect vulnerable people

The Justice Minister says photographs of convicted sex offenders will only be shared with specific people, when there is a threat to the community.

If the new amendment goes ahead, gardaí will be allowed to share images of convicts with schools and creches, if there is an offender in the area that's seen acting suspiciously.

Roscommon-Galway TD Denis Naughten says he put forward the proposal because the current legislation doesn't go far enough to protect vulnerable people.
