The head of the Shed Distillery in Drumshanbo in Leitrim has been appointed the new chair of Drinks Ireland.
PJ Rigney, who is the MD and Founder of the Shed Distillery, takes over the role from the head of Diageo Ireland, Oliver Loomes.
The organisation represents drinks manufacturers as well as suppliers in Ireland and is linked to business umbrella group IBEC.

The Covid pandemic has had a huge impact on all food and drink suppliers with the closure of bars and restaurants causing a huge dip in demand as well as production schedules at distilleries.
PJ says that even before the virus struck the industry was worried about several other factors too
