Over €8 million paid out in Forestry Scheme Payments locally

€8.7million was paid out across the Shannonside region last year in afforestation programme payments

County Cork accounted for 13.2% of the afforestation programme payments in 2021 followed by Kerry (8.2%), Clare (7.7%), and Roscommon at (5.9%) or €3.7m.

Three million euro was paid out in payments in Leitrim, and two million in County Longford out of a national total of €62 million.

Payments for forest roads were highest in 2011 and declined from €4.2 million for 116 kilometres in 2011 to €2.9 million for 73 kilometres in 2021.
