Over 500 fewer people receiving PUP locally this week

The drop is being linked to the re-opening of hospitality on Monday of this week

The number of people in the Shannonside Northern Sound region receiving the PUP has fallen by over 1,300.

For the first time this year, fewer than 300 thousand people across Ireland are getting the Pandemic Unemployment Payment. There was a nationwide drop of 24,000 PUP payments in the past week, with 1,365 of those in local counties.

Cavan saw the largest drop, with 410 fewer people receiving the payment compared to the start of the month.
It has the highest number of payments locally, at 3,868.

In Monaghan, there was a drop of 344 payments, with the number of payments in Roscommon down 290 as of yesterday.

The number in Longford dropped by 173, while Leitrim had the smallest reduction but the fewest people receiving the payment in Ireland at 1,773.

There are 1,733 people getting the payment there, 148 fewer than last week.]
