Over 1,300 vehicles were licensed across the Shannonside region for the first time last month.
The data was revealed in a CSO report recently.
The Central Statistics Office reported the overall number of new private cars licensed last month grew by 5 per cent when compared with March 2025.
Across the Shannonside region, 1,338 vehicles were licensed for the first time last month.
The highest number was in Co. Roscommon at 1,112, while 116 were registered in Co. Leitrim and 110 in Co. Longford.
The number of new private electric cars licensed in March 2026 rose by 39% when compared with March 2025.
While nationally Volkswagen was the most popular make licensed last month.
