Oran landed their first Roscommon intermediate title since 1997 with a seven point win after extra-time over St. Dominics.

Dominics had one hand on the cup after Darren Donnelly converted an injury time penalty to make it 2-8 to 1-10, but Charlie Carthy’s last gasp free sent the game to extra-time.

Oran were excellent in extra-time adding 1-6 to the scoreboard to win out 2-16 to 2-9.

Just two minutes were on the clock on Dominics opened the scoring with a goal, Darren Donnelly flicking the high ball into the net.

Oran were disturbed by the early goal but trailed by one point at half-time 1-3 to five points. The sides were level after seven second-half minutes 1-4 to seven.

Charlie Carthy was pulled to ground moments later with Oran awarded a penalty which was converted by Cathal Kenny to make it 1-7 to 1-4.

Darren Donnelly injury time penalty had pushed 2-8 to 1-10 ahead with Charlie Carthy’s free sending the game to extra-time.

Oran added five points within five minutes of extra-time with Mike Dwyer grabbing Oran’s second goal of the game, a goal which took the wind out of Dominics.

With Dominics unable to recover from Dwyer’s goal, Oran sealed the intermediate title 2-16 to 2-9.
