Official sod turning of N5 road project to take place near Elphin

The 34KM project is expected to take three years to complete.

The Taoiseach will officially turn the sod on the construction of the N5 Ballaghaderreen to Scramogue Road project today.

Michael Martin will pose for photographers at a location south of Shankill Cross, Elphin at 12.30pm.

The programme involves the construction of 34km of new single carriageway road bypassing the towns and villages of Frenchpark, Bellanagare, Tulsk, and Strokestown.

The total estimated investment in the project is more than €200million and it will take three years to complete.

After the photocall, Michael Martin will travel to Sligo to officiate at the opening of the upgrade of the N4 from Castlebaldwin to Collooney.
