The number of people in the Shannonside region accessing emergency accommodation increased between August and September
The latest report from the Department of Housing shows that 111 people were listed as homeless in the North West region, which includes Leitrim, in August of this year.
The figure for September stands at 149, representing an increase of 38 in the space of a month and 60 on the same time last year. The West Region, which includes Roscommon, reported 303 people homeless at the end of September, a slight decrease from 314 on the month previous 141 people were reported as homeless in the Midlands, an increase from 131 on August.
An increase of 225% in the number of children who are homeless in the North West region was also reported. The average number of people listed as homeless in the Leitrim,Sligo, Donegal region is now 102.
This compares to a figure of 43 in 2016.
